Landon Brands recently completed his 11-week internship at CRASH+SUES in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a marketing intern, Landon worked as a production assistant on live action shoots, created mock-ups and proof of concept videos, shot still and video assets for projects, researched and developed concepts, and more.

What was the most rewarding part of the experience?
Working with creative professionals on real campaigns for significant organizations got me to always be in a productive mindset. I gained a renewed appreciation for the fact that it takes constant dedication to your craft to innovate. It was also a formative experience to work with professional crews as a set production assistant on a commercial and a music video.

What did you learn about yourself?
Working with people who communicate ideas for a living, I internalized the concept that today, there are so many ways to tell a story. The entire campaign should be built on the most effective way to deliver the message. To that end, I’ve been thinking in more informed and more specific terms about where I want to specialize within the industry.

How has your internship prepared you for your future?
In addition to what I’ve already mentioned, I’m equipped with a sharpened knowledge of production, a better understanding of the advertising world, and some great connections.

What was the most difficult task or job you had to complete during your internship?
When I was working as a set PA on the music video, it was the biggest production I had ever worked on. I needed to acclimate quickly to everything that was happening so I could help get the job done. The experience was well worth it: I experienced from the inside how a complex shoot is professionally run, and have already put that knowledge to use in my own projects.

Would you recommend your internship site to others?
Yes! If you’re willing to work hard and be outgoing, you will get a lot out of interning at CRASH+SUES. It’s an outstanding place.
