The Red Eye Film Festival is a week-long competition between student teams in Mankato to create a polished and entertaining short film. The week concludes with a public showcase of all the films.

Registration Ends: Friday, September 22 at 5 p.m.
Launch Party: Sunday, September 24 at 7 p.m. (in HH129)
Films Due: Sunday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
Public Showcase: Monday, October 2 at 7 p.m. in the Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center Theater on the Bethany Lutheran College Campus, 700 Luther Dr, Mankato, Minnesota.

Eligibility

You must be a current student at Bethany Lutheran College, Minnesota State University-Mankato, or South Central College to participate. Each team must have no fewer than three people and no more than seven. If you are not on a team and would like assistance getting onto one, please email Alex Gutzke or call 507-344-7528.

Registration

In order to receive your prompts and further instructions, each team must be registered by Friday, September 24 at 5 p.m. Each team will designate one member as the producer. This person will function as the production coordinator and the main point of contact. To register, complete this form.

Production Guidelines

The prompts will be distributed the at the Launch Party in HH129 (film viewing room) and also via email to the producers. It is at this point that writing and production may begin. You are not allowed to shoot any of your film before September 24. The final video must be exported as a 1920×1080 H.264 video and delivered to the BLC studio via google drive by 7 p.m. on October 1.

In addition to the public showcase on Oct. 2, your film may also air on KTV, the Mankato/North Mankato public access channel. It is therefore required that your make your film appropriate for a general audience.
