We are excited to announce that BLC studios will continue broadcasting Minnesota D1 State Maverick Hockey in what will be the 20th year of the program! This announcement comes after a break from Maverick hockey, which will be returning this Thanksgiving weekend, November 27th and 28th.

During this recent break from Maverick Hockey, the studio staff evaluated the program and found a number of ways the games could be broadcast more efficiently. This year, the program will be run by May 2020 media arts graduate, Louise Dhuyvetter. “As a student, Louise was a proven leader on our team,” commented studio manager Greg Vandermause. “She was an obvious choice for the position and we’re excited to have her back.” Greg will continue to work with the broadcast in an advisory role.

Moving forward, the production will be similar to previous years but simpler in execution. The studio has invested in smaller gear that will allow us to provide an excellent product more sustainably. Given the current state of the pandemic and with limited fan attendance, much of the focus this season will be on student-made digital content to engage Maverick fans online. This continues the defining aspect of our hockey broadcast program—real-world experience for BLC students.
