Internship profile: Evans
In 2013, Aaron Evans completed his second summer internship in Los Angeles. His summer was spent at Troika Design Group as an animation intern working 50 hours a week for 11 weeks.
Tell us about your responsibilities as an intern.
As an animation intern I was able to dive right into projects and received more responsibilities as the summer went on. I animated motion graphics related to brand identity as well as promo package elements including lower thirds, end pages, and title pages. I was also responsible for file prep, the cleaning up and packaging of project files in a way that makes them easy for the client to use on a daily basis.
What was the most rewarding part of the experience?
Having the opportunity to work with and learn from so many talented artists.
In what ways was this internship different from your last?
My internship at Troika was focused around motion graphics, so it was exactly the kind of work I will be doing when I graduate. It was also great to get a perspective on the video game marketing industry last summer at The Ant Farm. They’re different parts of an exciting and diverse industry.
How has this internship prepared you for your future?
I learned a lot about technical aspects of creating motion graphics and have a much better grasp on organizational practices. I met so many great people who I am staying in touch with and who had great insights into the business and opportunities in the industry. The experience has confirmed that the next step for me is to go back to L.A. when I graduate to work and hone my skills further.
