Several Bethany students worked for the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, August 1 during Family Football Night at Verizon Vikings Training Camp. This was made possible through the connection of Bethany senior Brian Christensen, who landed an internship with VEN (Vikings Entertainment Network). As a VEN intern, Brian was responsible for recording Press Conferences and player interviews while the Vikings were in Mankato for training camp at Minnesota State. He was also responsible for coordinating additional production personnel for the Vikings Family Night event. He recruited five students and one alumnus including seniors Ashley Stahl, Brett Olson, Megan Maschoff, junior David Schuyler, and alumnus Anthony Miller (’14).
The Vikings were looking to enhance the fan experience for the event, so they brought in a video board from Daktronics. Bethany staffers worked as camera operators and grips so live video could be displayed to the fans while the Vikings practice. The studio also supplied cable, cameras, and other production equipment. Studio manager Greg Vandermause was there to support the event.
Bethany students left a strong impression on Vikings producer Skip Krueger, who commented:
“As we went through the night I had to remind myself that these were students. They were so professional. We work with a lot of people in the industry and some don’t compare to Bethany students.”
Not only did these students learn a great deal about working on an NFL sideline, they also proved their professionalism and work-ethic in the field.
